Key takeaways
- Your chat script lives in the AskSpot panel, under Add chat.
- On IdoSell you add it in Shop → HTML/JS add-ons.
- Create a campaign (name, active, domain), then add a new add-on with the script.
- If the chat does not show, set Display in to the end of the body section.
What this does
This puts the AskSpot chat on your IdoSell storefront so shoppers can ask questions and get product help right on the page. It is a front-end script you add once; it is separate from the order-data connection, which uses an API key.
Before you start
- Access to your IdoSell admin panel.
- Your AskSpot chat script – find it in the AskSpot panel under Add chat.
Step 1 – Copy your chat script
In the AskSpot panel, open the Add chat section and copy the script shown there.
Step 2 – Open HTML/JS add-ons in IdoSell
In the IdoSell admin, go to Shop → HTML/JS add-ons. This is where you add scripts into different elements of the page’s HTML.
Step 3 – Create a campaign
- Add a new campaign and set its parameters.
- Give it a name (e.g. AskSpot) and set its status to active: yes.
- Choose which domain to deploy it on, if you have more than one.
- Save – the campaign now appears in your list.
Step 4 – Add the script
- On your campaign, click Edit add-ons, then New add-on.
- Set the add-on parameters for the initializing script and paste the script you copied in Step 1.
- Save.
Chat not showing? If the chat does not display, IdoSell recommends changing the Display in setting to the end of the body section.
Want the agent to read order data too? See how to connect IdoSell to AskSpot. For placement modes, display options and the full picture, see the IdoSell integration.
Next – measure conversions. Once the chat is live, connect Google Analytics to see which conversations lead to sales. See how to track the AskSpot chat in Google Analytics.
Where do I get the chat script?
In the AskSpot panel, under the Add chat section. Copy it and paste it into IdoSell’s HTML/JS add-on.
The chat does not appear – what should I change?
Set the add-on’s Display in option to the end of the body section – that is IdoSell’s recommended fix.
Is this the same as the order-data connection?
No. This adds the chat widget to your storefront. Reading order data is a separate step that uses an API key – see the IdoSell connection guide.
