How the connection is built
Three layers. Two are enough to go live.
Nothing hidden and nothing bespoke – the same three connections on every platform we support, with the Shopify specifics called out.
01
Product feed
Point us at your product feed – the same one Google Merchant Center reads – or let us read your Shopify catalog through the Admin API. Titles, descriptions, variants, prices and stock come across, and the feed is re-read automatically every 24 hours – more often on higher plans.
Required
02
Front-end snippet
One asynchronous script tag in theme.liquid, or through your tag manager. It loads off the critical path and survives your next theme update.
Required
03
Order API
Create a custom app in Shopify Admin → Settings → Apps and sales channels → Develop apps, grant it read_orders (add read_fulfillments to track shipment status), install it, and add the Admin API access token yourself in the panel. That’s all the Agent needs to answer “where is my order?” on its own; widen the scopes when you want it to act on orders. Everything above already works without this layer.
Optional
A dedicated Shopify app is in development. Until it ships, the script tag above is the whole install.
Placement and control
You decide how it shows up
Three display modes, set per store from the dashboard. Switch between them at any time – no code change and no redeploy.
Live chat window
A pop-up in the corner of the page. The familiar option, and the least intrusive.
Slide-out window
Slides in from the side over your page. More room for product cards and longer answers.
Copilot mode
Shifts your page content aside instead of covering it, so the customer keeps browsing while they ask.
Appearance
- Your brand colour and logo
- Custom CSS on the widget
- Your own welcome and privacy text
- Six quick-action starter questions
Behaviour
- Desktop and mobile set separately
- A delay before the button appears
- Hidden on any page you choose
- Your own JavaScript on top

AskSpot is designed to operate safely in demanding e-commerce – with data protection, reliable AI and full operational control.
One platform, two Agents
Meet the Agents behind AskSpot
By industry
Which industry are you in?
Every vertical asks different questions – see how AskSpot answers them from your store’s own catalogue.
Before you install
The questions your developer will ask
Everything a technical owner checks before approving a script on a production store.
Will it slow the store down?
The snippet loads asynchronously from a CDN, off the critical rendering path. It does not block your theme, your page builder or your caching layer.
What can it do with orders?
Whatever you grant it, and nothing more. Most stores start read-only, so the Agent can look an order up but never change it. When you’re ready, you can extend the permissions to let it act – cancel, edit or start a return – scoped to exactly the operations you approve.
How fast are the answers?
One to two seconds to a visible reply, including the catalog lookup behind it.
How big can the catalog be?
We haven’t found a ceiling yet. The largest store running on AskSpot today carries 400,000 products with variants and multi-currency pricing, and nothing in the architecture caps it there.
How fresh is the catalog data?
The feed is re-read automatically once every 24 hours. Our support team can trigger a re-sync on request when you’ve made a large change, and higher plans run the sync more frequently – each rebuild of the search index has a real cost, which is why it isn’t continuous by default.
Where does our data live?
Inside the EU, and never used to train external AI models. Deleted on request. More on security →
How can we test it on our store before committing?
Start the 7-day free trial – no card needed, one trial per store – connect your catalog and ask it what your customers ask. Five questions tell you most: a product question in your second language, a stock or availability question, a returns edge case from your own policy, the status of a real order (once the order API key is added) and a request to speak to a person.
How much does it cost?
The Chat Agent is €250 a month (net) for up to 1,250 conversations, then €0.18 per extra conversation. There is no setup fee, billing is monthly and you can cancel any time. See pricing for the full rate card and an estimate for your traffic.
Do we still need Shopify Inbox?
No. AskSpot runs as your store’s chat on its own, so you don’t need Shopify Inbox alongside it – most stores replace their previous chat with it. If you’d like to keep a live-chat tool for your team, tell us which one you use and we’ll check how conversations are handed over to it.
What if we want it gone?
Delete the script tag and revoke the key. Nothing is left behind in your theme, your database or your checkout.
